When it comes to belief in God, some people demand irrefutable evidence, others feel no need for any evidence, they just believe. I find both perspectives unsatisfactory. The former has no hope of believing in God because God has hidden Himself so that only those who seek Him will find Him (Matthew 7:7). The latter perspective is a fool because he does not require any reason to back up his beliefs. What's to stop a person like this from believing that before the great flood the world was ruled by unicorns?
Some day we will have irrefutable evidence that God exist because we will meet Him face to face. However, that day has not yet come. Demanding that sort of evidence now is like reading a story and complaining that you are not at the end. We are in the middle of the story, and yes, we do look forward to the end.
For now God, in His great Wisdom, has hidden Himself just right. He is hidden well enough so that those who don't want to find Him won't and those who do want to find Him will. If He had hidden Himself any better the righteous would never find Him and their will would be thwarted. If He had not hidden Himself or hidden Himself poorly, even the wicked would find Him and their will would be thwarted (I quoting Kreeft here.). God honors our free will.
Two of the proof that I find most convincing for God's existences is the miracle of the transmission of Scripture over the last 3500 years, and the miracle of the conception of my nephew, Nathan.

I want more proof!
Bertrand Russell, on his deathbed, was visited by a friend who asked him, "You've been the world's most famous atheist most of your life, and now you're about to die. What if you were wrong? What would you say to God if you met him?" ... Russell replied: "I think I should say to him: Sir, it appears that my atheistic hypothesis was erroneous. Would you mind answering me one wee little question? Why didn't you give us more evidence?"
From time to time, I think all of us wish we had more proof for our belief in God. What do you consider the most significant proofs that help you to have faith in God? How should we respond to people who share Mr. Russell's attitude?

Which superhero are you?
I guess this blog doesn't have to be all business; we can have some fun too. There is a link to the Superhero quiz at the bottom of the post. What superhero are you most like?
I scored as Cyclops. I am a little offended about the stuck-up and arrogant part. Here is how I was rated:
As the leader of the X-Men, Cyclops is mature, dedicated, and committed to his cause. A bit stuck-up and arrogant at times, he gets angry when people won't work for the good of the team.

What is God like?
I have heard it said that God acts differently in the New Testament than He did in the Old Testament. The Old Testament was a time of Law where God was more known for His Wrath, but since the time of Jesus and the New Testament we have entered a time of Grace where God is more known for His Love. What do you think of this distinction? What do you like or dislike about it?
Can this perspective be reconciled with Hebrews 13:8 which says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever"?
